Summer over winter

Written by: Lauren Demir

London Rebels put on their third event of the year, Summer Over Winter at Camden Assembly. This showcased  up and coming artists (Hudson East, Rendezvous At Two, Malick IV, Giorgia Lo, Keys The Prince, Levelle London, Charlie Mase, Kai Jones) and DJ's (Ralph Hardy, Alia Loren, RBC and Dj Renz) who are all doing their thing right, promising a night of good music.

One of the many acts that stood out was Keys The Prince who performed songs off his upcoming project. Performing both behind his mic and keyboard there's definitely excitement surrounding the projects he's got coming. When Dayasoul joined him on stage, her smooth voice with his talent on the keys proved to be a unique live collaboration which is found far and few between.

Giorgia Lo was definitely another standout performer. Introduced by Ty from LDNRBS, he spoke about how he came across videos of her and was amazed by her voice. She performed 2 original songs and a cover of Teedra Moses 'Be Your Girl'. Despite a few technical problems during her set, she was able to overcome and deliver a voice that lingered in everyone's head after.

Malick IV brought energy and hype to his set. A very strong performance, with effortless switching up of his flows. He had the audience dancing and responding to him by the end. It was clear that he was enjoying his performance as much as they enjoyed watching him.

With Notting Hill Carnival round the corner, it only makes sense that Ralph Hardy closed the night with an ode to dancehall. By this point, everyone was still rolling from the showcase and enjoying the rhythms. The number of quality performances that were included in the time they had, showed the progress LDNRBS have made. 'Summer Over Winter' has even showcased that there are artists that can give a great live performance with no backing track. The DJ interludes were a great break for people to enjoy themselves dancing and get top ups at the bar.

The night has definitely lead to more eyes keeping a look out for the artists that performed and LDNRBS's next project which they've announced to be 'Shades Reloaded'.
