Catch up with jade leanne

Jade Leanne has released her debut EP, The Experience.

The EP is a collection of songs giving her audience a truthful account of her emotions felt, lessons learnt and choices made during a post break-up season of her life. We caught up with her to see how she's doing post release!

How are you doing during this period?

I have to admit, I'm quite enjoying quarantine. This situation is a wild one; very uncertain times and I've definitely had my fair share of lows, but I'm choosing to focus on the positive. I truly believe being in quarantine provides us with an opportunity to slow down, rest and recharge.

What are you doing to stay sane and keep creative?

Well I've actually been busy preparing to release my debut EP (which is now OUT whoop whoop) - designing the cover art, sending emails, creating promo content, etc. But now that it is finally out, I'm going to have to find something else to get stuck into! Write another EP maybe? Haha.

Any new music/book/film/series you have started to pass the time?

Yes! I've decided I want to read the books of some of my favourite romance films! I started with 'The Time Traveller's Wife' - which is utterly amazing; I highly recommend - and now I am currently reading 'The Notebook'. I'm late to the party, but I've just started watching the 'Divergent' films too tehehe.

Have you learnt anything new about yourself in this period?

That I won't be cooking a three course meal again anytime soon! My family and I did 'Come Dine With Me' (which was so much fun. We scored each other in private and my brother even filmed it haha) but whew, I definitely have kitchen rage! LOL! That is one thing I've learnt about myself.

It's a hard time for a lot of people, any advice to people who are finding it difficult?

Man it's a difficult one as there are so many people facing so many different situations, but ultimately, my advice would be to take it one day at a time! One day at a time. Take this time to really be in tune with yourself, allow yourself to feel how you feel. Do things that bring you peace and make you happy, whether that is meditation, self care/pampering, spending time with loved ones, exercising, baking.. whatever will bring you a little bit of happiness in this difficult time, be sure to do it! Challenge yourself to see the positive in every situation and remind yourself that this is a temporary season - It will pass.

How do you think the government is handling the crisis?

Tbh one thing that I know I'm grateful for, as well as others, is Furlough. I know everyone has their opinions on how well or not the government are handling this, but for me, I think the fact that they have decided to take out loans for businesses to continue paying their staff is something worth commending them for.

This is a perfect time for people who haven't heard of you to go and listen to your catalogue, where would you suggest they start?

MY DEBUT EP! I've been releasing music since 2018, but I feel as though I have grown, found my sound with this project and it is the music that best represents who I am right now!  If you love all things R&B - the alternative/contemporary sounds fused with the old-school vibes - then this project is most definitely for you!

What's your first thing you're going to do when this is all over?

Visit my grandparents, book a flight, go to the spa, the nail shop...whew I just got to get up out the house haha.
