LIVE REVIEW: Yizzy
Islington’s O2 academy was buzzing for 19-year-old Yizzy’s first headline show. With Logan Sama on the decks and Uncle Bantz hosting, amongst the several support acts, only a couple stood out; Aaron Unknown and Koder.
Aaron hit the stage with a poignant message regarding mental health. Highlighting the lack of support men give to each other in comparison to women. This clearly something the audience agreed with listening to the response from the crowd, before he played a few songs from his forthcoming EP ‘Journey.’ Koder set the vibe with his explosive performance in which he credited Brockley and labelled himself as ‘underrated like Lil Simz.’
From the first track to the last that Yizzy performed the crowd chanted along to the lyrics and matched the wild energy coming off of the stage. He jumped between genres; grime to garage to new skool, without stumbling once, confirming why we were all here to see him. There was love all around, not only between the artists on stage, but he also took the time to credit his mum at every opportunity dubbing her his inspiration. It felt personal and the crowd kept that vibe too as he thanked all his supporters more than once saying he felt blessed.
